On March 27th, in 2007, I attended one of two Public Hearings for what was and still is a long overdue road construction project. That project is the widening of Browns Bridge Road and the replacement of Browns Bridge. The project would have taken the two lane (or three, if you count the “suicide” center turn lane) with a four lane highway, with turn lanes and a divided median. Residents of both counties loved the plans, as the road is one of only two lake crossings that connects the 9th largest County (Forsyth) with the 12th largest county (Hall), and during rush hours, traffic can be just as bad as it is at the Courthouse Square or Marketplace Boulevard.
Why is it 2017, and still nothing has been done, after the State got its easements to expand the Right-of-Way almost a decade ago. Why do they not have any projection to widen the main highway going to Gainesville from Forsyth County? When will our Representatives and Senators in Atlanta, push for the long overdue project? Why did the DOT put that plan out in 2007, when they will not do it or in other terms, why tease us with lies?
