Take Me To Post Comment Form The following seminars are presented, free of charge, to any community, business, church, or civic group in Forsyth County by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Crime Prevention Unit:


GENERAL CRIME PREVENTION: Provides information to the audience about specific techniques and action steps they can take to protect themselves, their homes, and automobiles from becoming targets of crime.

CHILD ABDUCTION PREVENTION: Adults only seminar, where we examine 5 specific Child Abduction cases. The audience is provided with the laws that are not protecting our children, and specific tips on how you can protect your children.

CHILD MOLESTATION AWARENESS (THE SILENT CRIME): An adult only seminar that provides specific information on child molestation. “1 out of every 7 children will be molested before they reach the age of 18. Learn what the signs are and the process that is involved in investigating Child Molestation cases.

KEEPING YOUR SUBDIVISION SAFE: A seminar that provides solutions to common neighborhood problems, including loud parties, trespassing, and traffic issues in your neighborhood.

INTERNET SAFETY FOR PARENTS: Another adult-specific class where the dangers of the internet are identified and solutions are discussed. This class is taught by both the Crime Prevention Officer and an investigator from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division.

STRANGER DANGER FOR KIDS: A course designed for children between the ages of 4 through 16. These classes are divided up into specific age groups (4-7, 8-12, and 12-16). In our Stranger Danger courses children learn specific techniques on how to protect themselves from
possible abduction scenarios.

HOME ALONE FOR KIDS: This course is designed for kids that are at the age when they find themselves “HOME ALONE. This course is designed for kids between the ages of 11-16, and focuses specifically on safe practices while they are at home by themselves. We provide real-life scenarios for the kids to review, and teach them how to safely react to these situations.

SELF DEFENSE FOR WOMEN: This seminar is designed to teach women specific self defense techniques and build self confidence. The class is divided into class room instruction and hands-on practical exercises.

AGGRESSIVE DRIVING: This seminar clearly explains Georgia’s aggressive driving laws and educates participants on how to avoid becoming an aggressive driver as well as what to do if confronted by one on the road.

FATAL VISION: IMPAIRED DRIVING EDUCATION: This seminar, taught by deputies from our DUI Task Force and HEAT Unit, is a high-energy presentation that uses audience participation to dynamically show the effects of impaired driving and explain current DUI laws.

RAPE/DATE RAPE PREVENTION: This seminar is designed to teach women the various methods and techniques on how to avoid being raped. In the seminar we will profile a rapist, and discuss the tools available to women to help deter an attacker.

IDENTITY THEFT: This seminar is designed to teach the audience about the latest methods and tools that identity thieves are using in an attempt to steal your identity. We will provide specific steps that you can take to protect yourself from becoming a victim of this crime.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS: This seminar is designed to teach the audience about the many potential dangers of this growing crime in Forsyth County. We will also review the laws specific to Family Violence, and the many resources available to the victims of this crime. In the seminar we will take the audience through an actual case so that they will have a good understanding of the process that both the offender and victim will go through.

SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE: This course is designed to teach the audience on the growing trend of violence in the work place. We will review some actual cases that have taken place, and what could have been done to prevent them from occurring. The audience will be taught what type of signs to look for, and the proper procedures to follow if you think that a fellow employee might be a danger to themselves or fellow employees.

STREET GANG AWARENESS: This seminar is designed to inform the audience to the various gangs that have been found to be established and documented inside of Forsyth County. A member of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Gang Task Force will be the primary speaker. The information provided includes the various signs and or signature of the various gangs, the law as it pertains to gangs, and the tools/tactics the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is utilizing to address this issue.


TEENAGE SAFETY AWARENESS: This seminar is targeted to a teen audience from 13+ years old. We look at the various dangers that may affect this target audience, such as vehicle safety, date rape, internet awareness, violence in school, etc. In this seminar we utilize both PowerPoint and videos to demonstrate the potential dangers teens may be presented with, and the precautions they can utilize to deter from becoming a victim of these various dangers.

DRUG AWARENESS: This seminar is designed to inform the citizens of Forsyth County of the facts around drug abuse within the county. We will focus on the 3 most popular drugs being used today in Forsyth County; they are methamphetamine, marijuana, and various designer drugs. We will inform the audience about what these drugs look like, the various methods of how these drugs are taken, and the effects on the user.

P.R.I.D.E. (Parents Reducing Incidents of Driver Error): This is a driver safety program designed specifically for both parents and teens (ages 14-16). This two hour program is sponsored by the Georgia Traffic Injury Prevention Institute. This class will cover many aspects of driver safety, but primarily focuses on what both the teen, and parents will need to address during the critical mandatory 40 hours of supervised practice driving time prior to the teen receiving his/her class D drivers license.
