I could not agree more with the NF booster parent. I would like to add a little more information to this topic. The so-called gentleman's agreement between the principles?
Why are they so worried during the off season? Where is the concern during the regular season?
I can not speak for any other school but I know the only maintaince the school gives our field during the season is the occassional mowing and that's normally after a reminder from the booster club. The booster club provides the field dirt, rock and man-power to clean up everything. We schedule field days for the players and fathers to clean-up the warning track, infield etc.
We take care of our own field. We drag the fields, clean up the dug outs, empty the trash
The idea of us costing them money is also a joke. As stated by the NF parent, we could possible make some money.
I do want to acknowledge the fact the school does provide the lights for our night games but our fall practices would not need them. Oh wait.. my tax dollars provided those.
The booster club even had to front the monies for our teams hats and baseballs last years. Yes.. we did get reimbused at the end of the season after our treasurer reminded them they owed us. So the issue of costing the school system does wash either.
The thought that this is JUST fall ball is also agravating.
Many of these players are hoping to continue their baseball career into college and use every opportunity to sharpen their skills but, gee... it's just fall ball.
My final point would be that maybe the school board should have a little input here after all they say they encourge the use of school facilities.
The principles need to remember that, while they are in charge of the children during school hours, we as tax payers and parents should have some say in the use of the facilities as long as we are responsible.
