|Description:||HOME HEATING HELP AVAILABLE FOR THE LOW INCOME, ELDERLY AND DISABLED. October 7, 2013 Low-income elderly (every household member must be age 65 and older) or totally homebound elderly people (completely unable to leave the home for any reason), can apply for assistance paying their home heating bills beginning November 1, 2013 The Georgia Department of Human Resources will help pay heating costs for gas and electricity. One-time payments will be made primarily by checks issued to home energy suppliers on behalf of eligible households. Eligibility for the program is based on the income of all members of the household. All eligible households must be responsible for their home heating costs. When applying for assistance, persons must present age verification, social security cards and written proof of income for all household members. This can be a paycheck stub, public assistance check, an award letter, bank statement showing monthly income or unemployment check. Applicants must also supply a documented social security number for each person in the household and a most recent home heating bill and a valid ID. Depending on availability of funds, the regular program will open to the general public on December 2,2013 For further information on applying for assistance, Pam Morris, the Forsyth County Community Resource Coordinator, or Maggie Marte Program Assistant at 770-889-9420 or email to email@example.com More information, including income guidelines, can be found online at www.ndo.org.|
